The South Shore, around South Lake Tahoe and Stateline, has the most restaurants, nightlife, and ski access at Heavenly. The Nevada East Shore, including Zephyr Cove and Glenbrook, is quieter with sandy beaches. Choose south for convenience and variety, east for a slower lake-house pace.
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is about an hour from the South Shore. Sacramento is roughly two hours west on Highway 50, and San Francisco is about three and a half hours. In winter, carry chains, since the passes into the basin often require them during storms.
July and August are peak beach and boating season. Ski season runs from about mid-November through April, with the deepest snow in February and March. September and early October offer warm days, fall color, and lower rates between the two peaks.
Yes. Winter is a primary season for our Lake Tahoe cabins and homes, with Heavenly, Sierra-at-Tahoe, and Kirkwood all within reach of the South Shore. Expect hot tubs, fireplaces, and gear storage in most winter-ready homes.
Many of our Lake Tahoe rentals welcome dogs, from cabins in the pines to homes near the beaches. Every listing states its own pet policy and any pet fee on the property page, so check the details for the home you like before booking.
