Pebble Beach is an unincorporated community in Monterey County. Nonresidents are charged a toll to use 17-Mile Drive, the main road through Pebble Beach, which makes it a de facto gated community.
Completed in 1880, the 17-Mile Drive winds through Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove, with five main entrances. Stops include the Lone Cypress, a salt-pruned Monterey cypress that serves as the symbol of Pebble Beach, along with Bird Rock, Seal Rock and Fanshell Beach.
