January through April is peak season, with dry 70-degree days, the Phoenix Open, Barrett-Jackson, and spring training. October through December is warm and quieter with lower rates. Summer runs well past 100 degrees; pool homes drop their prices sharply and the desert is empty if you can take the heat.
Sky Harbor International Airport is about 20 minutes from Old Town and Tempe homes, 30 to 40 minutes from North Scottsdale and Cave Creek, and 25 to 35 minutes from Mesa and Glendale, depending on traffic.
